What is Laser Tonsil Reduction?
Laser tonsil reduction is a minimally invasive treatment with the Fotona laser to reduce the size of the tonsils. This is an alternative to a tonsillectomy – a surgery where tonsils are removed with a scalpel. Laser tonsil reduction is a holistic alternative that provides immediate reduction of the tonsil and increased airway function. Tonsil reduction is appropriate for people who have enlarged tonsils or who have chronic tonsil infections or tonsil stones.
The treatment does not require anesthesia and has a faster recovery time than tonsillectomy. Patients may experience a warm sensation during treatment but it is a pain-free procedure. Most people require 2-3 laser treatments 48 hours apart.
Do I need Tonsil Reduction?
Enlarged tonsils often result in airway obstruction which leads to severe snoring and/or obstructive sleep apnea. If you or your child suffers from severe snoring or obstructed breathing, tonsil reduction may be the right treatment for you.
